La Bible se composait à l'origine de 66 livres qui étaient acceptés comme inspirés par Dieu. Ces 66 livres correspondent à 39 dans l'Ancien Testament et 27 dans le Nouveau Testament.

Les livres qui composent la Bible ont été écrits par différents auteurs il y a entre 1 500 et 2 000 ans. Le premier livre écrit date probablement d'il y a environ 3 500 ans. Le dernier a été écrit il y a environ 2 000 ans.
